The Bodiam Meat & Pie Co. is the new trading name of Natural Farms Ltd and Sussex Pies, through which we have been trading for over 30 years. Well established here at Ockham farm in Bodiam, our rural premises are located in the most beautiful part of the East Sussex countryside. With fabulous views of rolling hills and the world famous Bodiam Castle, we are fortunate to work in such a tranquil and attractive environment.
Over the years we have built an enviable reputation for providing a comprehensive range of the finest quality British meat.
Our refrigerated vans deliver daily to most of Kent, East & West Sussex and parts of Surrey and South London. We have more than 50 wholesale customers from traditional, high street and village butcher shops to the ever increasing number of farm shops with integral butcheries. Additionally, our service to the retail and catering industries is steadily growing with many new establishments joining us every month.
We also have a sister business at Carterton in the Cotswolds, from where we service the traditional butcher trade, caterers and educational establishments in the Oxfordshire/Gloucestershire area.
Here at the Bodiam Meat & Pie Co we concentrate on five main areas of business:
- Wholesaling - the finest quality hanging and boxed meat to the traditional butcher trade.
- Catering - Preparing meat to the highest standard for pubs, restaurants, cafés, schools & caterers.
- Pre-packed - labelled & priced cold cabinet products for retail shops.
- Cutting - Top quality “Master Butcher” cutting and packing service for local producers & farmers.
- Pies - The production of hand raised, country style, pies, pasties, sausage rolls and savouries, here at Bodiam in our own kitchen, using our own finest quality meat and poultry.
Everything is prepared or cut to order, from a body of beef or side of pork, to a boned and rolled shoulder of salt marsh lamb, or a freshly baked Steak & Onion pie.

The success of any business is wholly dependent on its people. Here at the Bodiam Meat & Pie Co. we are fortunate to have a great team. Some are new additions to a back bone of long service and experience. Our Managing Director Ed Middleton acquired the business 6 years ago. Ed is always looking for ways to develop and improve our business while maintaining our traditional roots.
Brian, our operations manager has been here since the very beginning. An ex-chef, Brian knows the business inside out from both sides and is our kingpin.
Our cutting and butchery operation is headed by Master Butcher Rob Pomfret. Rob has more years experience than he cares to remember and there is nothing he doesn’t know about the meat trade. His skilful butchery is an integral part of our success. Rob and his team start work most mornings around 4am, freshly preparing orders to be delivered a few hours later.
Luda has been making pies in our Bodiam kitchen for more than ten years. She is a skilled and experienced cook and dedicated to producing top quality products day in, day out.
The rest of the team have extensive experience in the meat, wholesale, hospitality and catering trades, so again know the business inside out from all directions.
